Top 50 most influential pub people

The Morning Advertiser's annual list of the top 50 most influential pub people was published this week.

Top is Tim Martin, chairman of JD Wetherspoon up from 3 last year.

CAMRA's Mike Benner moves up from number 42 to 29th most influential.

Good also to see Michael Turner, Chief Executive of Fuller's up to 9th (from 35th)

The folk passionate about real ale are becoming more influential in the industry on the back of its surge in popularity. Long may it continue.

Nice to see Feargal Sharkey a new entry at number 50 for his campaigning work regarding live music in pubs.

I read this article yesterday and, as you say, The Real Ale folk are moving ever upwards, I have known this for 23 years of campaigning, maybe one day the industry will catch up with CAMRA!!
As a side note, was at Newbury Races saturday and they had a full Fullers bar, 6 ales plus bottles, 1st time I've seen this at a racecorse, and I've been to them all!!. Shame about plastic glasses however from little acorns.... Tried a few and they were ok!! Only 2nd time I've consumed alcohol at a racecourse!
